Barton Tumlinson is the Principal at Oliver Elementary with a year under his belt. Spirited was not the word he chose.
He chose flexible or enthusiastic.
But it was his Vice-Principal (Karen Sinclair) who said “full of spirit” and he liked that.
What is new this year for teachers and students at the OES:
1. Mind Up – learn to focus, reduce stress, develop empathy, manage emotions
2. Steve Covey’s 7 habits for highly effective kids – win/win, begin with the end in mind
3. Building on Inquiry Time
4. Teaching kids self management – behavior and allotting time
5. Project based learning – a modern approach to instruction
6. Assessments for Learning – helping each student to reach their potential
Oliver Elementary is a busy school and we look forward to the new instructional year to come.
