Elsie Mayer

July 13, 1924 – August 11, 2014

On Monday August 11, 2014, Elsie Margaret Mayer of Oliver passed away at the McKinney Place Extended Care Unit at the age of 90 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Wilbert and her son Rick.

Elsie will be dearly remembered by her loving family including daughter Bev (Don) Schonfelder and their children Lindsay (Mittu) Schonfelder and Kristy (Andy) Rosenhauch; daughter Joanne (John) Martin and their children Robert (Tasha) and Jesse (Sherry) Martin and son Ken (Audrey) and their children Sarah (Cory), Robert (Daniela), Thomas and Andrew Livsey; grandchild Laura (Brendin) Senger; many great-grandchildren, Rick’s widow Anna (John); extended family and friends.

Elsie was born on July 13, 1924 in Eatonia, SK to George and Ablona Kilback.

Elsie and Wilbert met in Oliver and were married on October 18, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oliver. Elsie was very active in her church, she sang in the choir, convened for Ladies Aid, the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed crafts, cooking, baking, camping, fishing, travelling, taking cruises and visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elsie and Wilbert also ran the Oliver Branch of the Heart & Stroke Foundation for over forty years.

A private graveside committal will be held at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Darren Siegle at 1:00 P.M. Friday August 15, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church followed by a reception in the church reception hall.
