September 2nd – classes resume (scheduled) and Mrs. Benoit meets parents, students and classroom teachers in her new position.

Shendah has worked in the Osoyoos Elementary for 3 years and before that taught at Okanagan Falls Elementary for 2 years. She says she knows the district well and looks forward to leading the school but is quick to point out that the education plan is agreed to in the spring and the school will operate well while she learns a lot.

Getting to know students, staff, the building and working in an environment with no Vice Principal is the first challenge. Tucelnuit Elementary has about 200 students K to 7 and is about 1/3 smaller than liver Elementary or Osoyoos Elementary.

Shendah is enthusiastic about Project Based Learning and hopes to work organically with teachers over time in moving the innovative programmes further along within the district.

She says the team at Tuc-el-nuit is a good one and looks forward to their support.

Passion is what she brings to the job.
