Despite some board opposition – the RDOS will proceed with obtaining working drawings on a refurbished office building at 101 Martin Street in Penticton.
Director Tom Siddon said it was ridiculous to not properly assess the real estate value of the present land and see what other options are available. Most directors sided with a smaller cost to bring the office building up to modern standards and with all building deficiencies corrected.
The drawings will cost $56000 – renovations could be in the 200-300 thousand dollar range.
Directors heard today that a new hospital addition in Penticton could see 1910 jobs created during the construction project and that the emergency ward would triple in size by the completion. RDOS must find the money in reserves to fund 40% of the $325 million cost of construction.
