Three regional district Public Hearings Tuesday night in Oliver with most of the 22 people in the room there to express opposition to a proposed housekeeping change in the Deer Park Manufactured Home Park zoning to make all lot sizes the same in old and new sections.
A bit of history – many years ago about 50 manufactured home sites were allowed at Deer Park (8598 Hwy 97 – north of Oliver) The parcel size quite small at 350 sq. metres. So that was changed to 500 sq. metres but by then all the homes were on the small lot size.
So once the plan was made to expand the park (30 new parcels) – the paperwork had to change. Present owners believe the lots are too small – with limited distance between roofs and does not allow for other amenities like workshops. Most pleaded with the Regional District not to change the old zoning and they “voted” at the meeting.
The decision is now in the hands of the regional district board in Penticton and the matter will be debated later this month.
Two other matters at the public hearing attracted no participation from owners or neighbours.
