An editorial
Not to make light of a drug overdose death – it could happen anywhere even a house party.
What was the main problem in 2014 – the lack of experience of organizers in this location.
Dust bowl, lack of cheap or free water, lack of qualified security and more fun on the outside for the public downtown.
Penticton at times seemed like a ghost town each time I entered with a big glow on the west of the airport. Eight thousand people camping and partying and listening to music. Wow. I found no place where the noise would bother anyone other than grumps.
Penticton was well guarded by RCMP – many of whom I talked to at roadblocks “You again?”
But the extra business for locals, the cash influx much appreciated when regular tourism seems to be down.
All the parties, organizers, RCMP, liquor licensing, Penticton Indian Band, RDOS, MLA, Mayor should sit down now and hammer out the problems – get it organized for 2015 and embrace it – promote it and make it a world class event.
Stop negativity. Bring on Peachfest!!
I can say that – I’m a senior.
