On July 20, 2014 at ~ 11:38 hours Oliver RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a 2006 Honda van and a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the 4300 block of Black Sage road. The 43 year old female operator of the MC sustained non life threatening injuries and the driver of the Honda van was uninjured. Speed appears to have played some role in this collision. No charges will be pursued by the RCMP in this event.
On July 21, 2014 an Oliver resident in the 400 block of Johnson Crescent reported that sometime over the preceding two weeks a Honda EU3000 generator and a Stihl MS2150 chainsaw were stolen from his garage. Anyone with information regarding this Break & Enter are asked to call the Oliver RCMP or Crime Stopper.
On July 21, 2014 at ~ 12:45 Hours Oliver RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision between a grey Kia Sedona red Ford F150 at the intersection of Sumac Street and Road 5. Investigation showed that the Ford F150 was struck by the Kia Sedona and ended up in an orchard causing about $5,000 damage to the orchard. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and neither driver received any injuries. Failing to yield to traffic when entering the Highway on the part of the driver of the Kia appears to be the cause of the collision.
On July 22, 2014 at ~ 00:13 Hours Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision in the area of Highway 97 and Road 3. Investigation showed that the 21 year old driver appeared to have fallen asleep at the wheel and driven off road, ending up in the ditch. Alcohol and speed are not determining factors in this event in which the driver received minor injuries.
During this past week the Oliver Detachment received a number of theft from vehicle complaints. The circumstances surrounding these theft are similar in nature in that the vehicles were insecure and property was visible. The RCMP continue to remind people to place their valuables out of sight or leave them at home. Lock your vehicles and roll your windows up far enough so that a thief cannot put their hand inside your vehicle.
