Which brings us to a subject I need to talk about. Ron’s picture is great – no question and most pictures sent to ODN are incredible. Too many to mention but Bob Cameron, Paul Eby, Bernard Bedard, Jeremy Cook, Russell Work, Roger Richardson, Ed Dukes, Doris Lancaster, Penelope Johnson, Dave Whalley, Mike Beaulieu, Nancy Falkus, Marc Girouard, Leza Macdonald, Eileen Redding, John Chapman, Linda Anderson, Donna Dean, Brandt Leinor come to mind first. There are dozens of other fine photographers.
Invest in a quality camera ($250-$550 range) which will give you an excellent picture. Don’t shoot into light – let light be your friend. Take multiple shots of the same face, flower, or fence – then pick the best one.
Don’t try to get the best shot of a moon, a plane in motion, people in the shadows or other difficult shots until you have mastered the close up of a child’s face or a flower in a pot. Once you see a great shot you have taken you will want to do more. Don’t accept the mediocre – get the best shot possible. Use your camera to self crop the picture before you take it. Get as close the subject as possible. Keep the camera steady.
Phone cameras can take wonderful shots but not all the time. Buy a quality camera and you will love it.
