A date in BC Supreme Court at Penticton has now been set for a young Oliver man charged with using explosives in contravention of the Criminal Code.
Eric Olivier Daoust will appear at 10 am Monday August 25 before a Supreme Court Judge.
24 year old Daoust pled NOT guilty to CCC 81.1.c Using explosives
81. (1) Every one commits an offence who (c) with intent to destroy or damage property without lawful excuse, places or throws an explosive substance anywhere.
Daoust is not in custody.
His younger brother Stefan pled guilty to a number of charges in connection with an incident last year and has completed his sentence of 90 days. The bombing at the rear of a home on Earle Crescent in Oliver occurred August 11. A car was damaged and shrapnel flew into the neighbourhood.
RCMP said the incident appeared to stem from an ongoing grudge between the brothers and a third Oliver resident.
“Our findings indicate that the violence was targeted towards the young man who resided in the home where the car was damaged,” Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said. “All three knew each other and are Oliver residents. It appears that the matter stemmed from a mutual longstanding dislike for each other.”
