Rev. Heather Burton Retires – Farewell Service 11 a.m. Sunday, July 20
Rev. Heather Burton is retiring from active Ministry as of July 20, 2014. We welcome you to join us at her Farewell service this Sunday at 11 a.m. A Potluck Lunch will follow.
Heather provided pulpit supply at Oliver United Church for several years before beginning a part-time ministry position (shared with OK Falls United) in 2012. Her primary roles have been preaching and pastoral care in the United Church and in the extended community.
Heather was ordained as a Minister in The United Church of Canada in 1997, having completed Master of Religious Education and Master of Divinity programs. She has always enjoyed a preaching style that links the scriptural tradition with everyday life.
Her husband John, who is also ordained and who teaches at UBC (Okanagan), has been part of her ministry as well, providing pulpit supply in Heather’s absence.
Heather is looking forward to having more time for her passion for traveling, painting, creative cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by both Oliver and OK Falls United congregations, as well as others in the communities who have come to know her.
We wish her a long and happy retirement, and hope she and John will return often to renew friendships.
