Over the last few weeks there have been numerous thefts from unlocked vehicles and sheds in the Osoyoos area as well as vehicle thefts of unlocked cars with keys left inside them. Please secure your houses, vehicles, and outbuildings to deter these crimes of opportunity.
On July 9th, Osoyoos Police, Fire Services and Forestry responded to an interface fire at Richter Pass Rd, West of Osoyoos. A grass fire near the road quickly spread uphill and threatened numerous houses and buildings. Several residents voluntarily evacuated until Forestry air and ground crews extinguished the fire. No residences were lost to the fire and approximately 10 hectares of forest was burned. The fire is thought to have started from a cigarette.
On July 10th, at approximately 6:30 pm, Osoyoos RCMP investigated a 43 year old man from North Vancouver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man refused to provide a breath sample as required by law and subsequently he received a 90 day roadside driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Sometime between the morning of July 11th and the afternoon of July 13th thieves broke into a locked detached garage in the Spruce Court area of Osoyoos. Two dirt bikes, a Yellow 1977 Suzuki SD 185 CC and a Black/red 2007 Giovanni motorcycle were stolen.
