The Desert Valley Hospice Society, Kim Wanner accepted a very generous cheque for $7,000 from the Oliver Rotary Club. The money was raised as part of the proceedings of the Annual Rotary Gala held on June 7th at the Oliver Community Centre. Over 100 attendees enjoyed an evening of tapas and wine pairings. A number of local businesses donated items for both a silent and live auction.
Kim graciously accepted the cheque on behalf of the Desert Valley Hospice Society, stating that the funds will go towards providing local hospice programs to the Oliver and Osoyoos community, education of volunteers and advocacy for quality hospice palliative care and end of life services in our community.
The Desert Valley Hospice Society is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing hospice palliative services and end-of-life support in the communities of Oliver and Osoyoos. Volunteers are trained to make the journey a little easier for anyone in our community with a life-limiting diagnosis. Hospice offers one-to-one practical and emotional support to clients whether at home, in hospital or a residential care facility. Upon request, volunteers may read to clients, listen to their concerns, share mutual interests, run small errands, or simply provide a silent presence.
