Revelstoke Search and Rescue personnel and the RCMP are searching for two missing boaters on Kinbasket Lake.
“The males were in a 12-foot aluminum fishing boat and have not been seen since (Monday, July 7),” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement.
“BC Hydro and contract employees scoured the shoreline and surrounding roadways over the night. Revelstoke RCMP and search personnel attended by helicopter to the area at approximately 5:30 am on Tuesday and conducted an extensive aerial patrol of the area.”
Over 100 square kilometres were searched without any sign of the boat or the two men. They later searched by boat but did not see any sign of the missing men who are both approximately 60 years of age and are from Osoyoos and Mission. They are both contract employees working at the Mica Dam. No names released.
Kinbasket Lake is a vast water reservoir that is a flooded valley. The depths near the dam are up to 600 feet currently and the shoreline is very steep.
