Boonstock has arranged its security with 24/7 Security Limited for the festival on the August long weekend.
“The safety and security of the artists, the fans, the volunteers, my staff has always been my paramount priority” said Colin Kobza, president of Boonstock Productions speaking at a Penticton meeting last night.
“Today I am pleased to announce that we have entered into partnership with 24/7 Security Ltd.”
Barb Haynes, director of operations for the festival talked about special occasion licensing (for liquor sales).
“We had a deadline, and we have met that deadline,” Haynes said. “I do not anticipate any more difficulty with it.
According to a press release Boonstock started discussions with an alternate security firm at the end of June when it “became clear that the negotiation process with the previously retained company was becoming stalled.
“What impressed us the most when we first spoke with 24/7 Security Ltd. was their readiness to work with our local event and security professionals. Penticton is a festival city and we have some of the finest water safety, event security and medical experts in BC, perhaps in Canada,” said Barb Haynes, Director of Operations, Boonstock Production.
A 200-page Safety and Security Plan has been created by Boonstock and supplied to all stakeholders including RCMP, The Liquor Control and Licensing, BC Safety Authority, Interior Health, BC Ambulance Service, etc.
Boonstock Music and Arts Festival will take place over the August long weekend on Penticton Indian Band Land with an estimated 8,500 peopled expected to attend.
