1 miles west of DRAO on the road to Twin Lakes. About 20 hectares of grass burned. Started at about 4:30 pm and took fire crews about 3 hours to control it. Three air tankers were the initial attack fleet.
BC Forest Service and Willowbrook firemen on the scene but the heavy lifting done by 2 helicopters tonight.
Forestry officials say no homes were/are threatened and power lines are well up the mountainside.
As it darkens – a skelton crew will be on standby dealing with hot spots.
One forestry official said the fire began near the road and a cigarette tossed is thought to be the cause.
Official release at 8pm: No longer considered a wildfire of note.

Tankers have completed action on the wildfire near White Lake Observatory. The fire is roughly 20 hectares in size. The fire has been reduced to a smoldering ground fire. Twenty firefighters will remain on site overnight.
