On June 23rd, 2014, at approx. 12:38 Hrs, Oliver RCMP attended “Oliver Car & Truck” located at 5668 Hwy 97, Oliver in response to a report that several vehicles which were parked on the lot had been paint-balled. The damage was minimal and consisted of some water based paint clean-up. Any witnesses should contact the Oliver RCMP directly or via Crime Stoppers. Parents with youth who have access to vehicle and paint-ball guns should discuss local concerns with their children.
On June 25th, 2014 the Oliver RCMP were dispatched to a report of a residential Break & Enter in the 300 Block of Road 20. On arrival police confirmed that entry had been gained through breaking the window in the front door and disengaging the dead bolt. The tenant was in the process of moving and the only property that remained in the residence were a television and some assorted tools. Those items are identifiable by the owner but not by any distinguishing serial numbers.
On June 30th, 2014 at 04:46 Hrs RCMP responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle crash with property damage in the 5800 Block of Main Street. On arrival it was confirmed that a 2001 Mazda van was northbound on Main Street when it veered off road and struck a power pole. Fortis attended to replace the pole and the vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver, a 37 year old Oliver resident and three local passengers received minor injuries as a result of the crash which were treated at scene by BC Ambulance attendants. The crash appears to be the result of driver fatigue, speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors.
On July 2nd, 2014 at 00:08 Hrs, members of the Oliver RCMP were dispatched to the South Okanagan General Hospital in response to a report of an assault with weapon and attempted abduction of a 31 year old Oliver resident. Police investigation has resulted in the arrest of four adult Oliver males. The offence appears to be targeted and risk to the Public should be considered as low. All four males have been released on some significantly restrictive conditions and are due to appear in BC Provincial Court (Penticton) on July 30th, 2014 to answer to charges of: Assault with a weapon, Kidnapping, Mischief Under $5,000 and Assault.
