Saturday – I went with my husband and children to Lion’s Park.

It was in a disgusting state, and this isn’t even half of it. I was avoiding taking pictures of people… out of respect, so I couldn’t get the really bad spots. This is ridiculous, where are my kids supposed to play in the summer? I didn’t call the police but I definitely be contacting the town on Monday. The by-law officer was there too… I saw him talking to one guy at a picnic table for about a half hour, then he walked to the parking lot and came back with his clipboard and I though “great, he’s going to do something”, but he just sat back down at the same table.

Dogs running loose, blatant open drinking and smoking pot all next to a playground! I posted these pictures on Facebook and heard many others share in my outrage, one mother commenting that she doesn’t take her children to any Oliver parks in the summer.

I feel as though our parks have been hijacked! I realize that they are free to use for everyone, as they should be, but any other time of the year, I highly doubt it would be appreciated if I cracked open a beer and lit up a joint next to the playground.

This has to be dealt with!
