National Park Issue
Video from CPAWS below – relatively new
Editorial: Many groups and individuals in favour – many groups and individuals against. What’s the answer? The government of BC should bring the group in favour of this idea together soon and give them the facts.
The idea is dead in the minds of the BC government but it wants to play a role in conserving the grasslands and it has. Without all the facts at my finger tips I would say this well populated area has more park land/areas in danger protected than just about anywhere else in BC. Yes there is more to do. Much land is protected by ALR, BC parks, Natures Trust, BC Conservancy, Canadian Wildlife Service etc.
The province will state it has plans to enhanced sensitive areas in this region and can come out with the amount of land areas under protection.
Those who want a National Park want more – believing that that designation means: jobs, jobs, jobs.
That’s where the debate begins. When will Mary Polak, Minister of the Environment call together those in favour and give them the facts?
