Two spawning platforms proposed for Okanagan River east of Red Wing Estates in Penticton for sockeye and chinook.
Square metre size would about 3500 for each platform. Also a 400 square metre rearing habitat will also be constructed in August or September depending on river flow.
The project designed by the Okanagan Nation Alliance Fisheries Department and ORRI – the USA funded
river project active in the Oliver area – slowing down the channelized river.
Sockeye now get into Skaha and the hope is full restoration of fish habitat into Okanagan Lake.
Part of the project is a public viewing area so that people can see trout and salmon in the river.
