BC Teachers Serve Full Strike Notice
The British Columbia Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) has informed school districts that they will be withdrawing full services effective Monday, June 16 th until further notice.
School District #53 teachers will be a rotating strike Friday.
While bargaining is scheduled throughout the weekend with the parties, we are planning for Thursday to be the last day of classes for all students.
Provincial exams will continue as scheduled for students in grades 10 to 12 and additional information is being sent home with secondary students and posted on our website.
Parents should make alternate arrangements for their children during the strike as classes will not run and adequate supervision will not be available. Early learning programs and evening programs that utilize school facilities may be disrupted due to picket lines. Please contact your early learning/program provider to confirm.
It is our sincere hope that this dispute will be concluded quickly and that normal school operations and classes will resume before this school year ends. In the meantime, as a precautionary measure, students have been informed to take all personal belongings home with them today.
As matters develop and we learn more information, we will inform you as soon as possible through local media, our website at www.sd53.bc.ca and through school websites. If you have further questions specific to your school or child, please contact the school principal.
