Years in the making, but the Splash Park, was officially opened Friday at Jack Shaw Gardens.
The celebration included cake, hot dogs, music and a ribbon cutting. Osoyoos Rotary Club presented the town with a cheque in the amount of $8,000.
“Not that long ago, our committee stood right here and taped off an area and said ‘maybe this could work’, and here we are,” Director of Community Services at Town Gerald Davis told the crowd.
“This park would not have been completed without a vision from our Town Council, our town staff our splash park committee and especially the community. This is our opportunity to thank everyone who donated money, supplies, technical assistance and work in kind.”
Davis says there is work yet to be done on the park, including making it wheelchair accessible, getting some shade in place and making parking more convenient.
