A brush fire that broke out on the weekend could have potentially threatened homes, according to Penticton Indian Band Fire Chief Barry Phillip.
Phillip said they were called out to the fire below West Hills on PIB land Sunday afternoon at around 1:45.
The blaze consumed about 10 acres.
“It was quite a fight, because it was an aggressive fire that could have potentially endangered homes,” he said.
Phillip said there have been controlled burns in the area, but this was not one of them.
The RCMP were called out and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. A gutted burned vehicle was found nearby and could have been a source of the fire.
