Jack your attitude is part of the problem. As a town representative you should not be blowing off Oliver residence with silly publisher comments.
IE: TV health silliness and oh guess you should leave town if it’s too noisy. Most noise is intermittent such as construction, snow ploughing, lawn mowers, etc. Kaddabi blasts announcements and music continuously for approx. 10 hours in a event day.
Please read Bylaw 725 items 3 and 4 and you will find noise bylaws are being violated.
Residence who have no interest in Kaddabi should not be force to listen to EI drumming music and blaring announcements . I have no problem with lots of events being held thru the town but organizer must consider nearby residence. The town bylaw person should have a published number and be on standby so folks can call on Kaddabi event day if it gets to noisy again, seeing as it has been a problem the last two years. When potential problems exist contingency plans should be in place, not “maybe we’ll get to it next year” as has happened he last two years.
Bylaw 725
3. No person shall make or cause, or permit to be made or caused, in or on a highway or elsewhere in the municipality, any noise or sound which disturbs or tends to disturb the quiet, peace, rest, enjoyment, comfort or convenience of a person in the vicinity.
4. No owner or occupier of real property shall allow such real property to be used so that a noise or sound which originates from that property disturbs or tends to disturb the quiet, peace, rest, enjoyment, comfort, or convenience of a person in the vicinity.
Hope this enlightens you on a problem many residence feel exists.
Publisher responds:
Even though these remarks were sent to oliverdailynews – I will forward to Mayor, Council and the Corporate Officer who is in charge of Bylaw Enforcement.
If “many residence” come forward and complain then your opinions are supported.
If many residents do not come forward – then we can assume most are more tolerant.
My comments covered both sides of the issue – you have characterized them as silly. That’s you opinion. I am entitled to them, don’t you think.
