On Thursday, May 22 Oliver Parks and Recreation hosted a celebration station to kick off “Bike to Work Week” which is May 26-June 1 in BC. Just under 20 people stopped in on their bikes to enjoy some refreshments and record their daily biking distances, which totaled over 185 kilometres! Manager of Recreation Carol Sheridan and Recreation Supervisor Katie Eaton were happy to see everyone and especially applaud the efforts of local teacher Nathan Woollard who bikes to work 7 days a week, as well as senior resident Phyllis Botkin who bikes 60 kilometres a day along the Hike & Bike Trail. Thanks to everyone who supported this first annual Bike to Work Week event and happy riding!
