On Thursday May 8, 2014, Shaun Aaron Stelkia of Oliver passed away at the Kelowna Regional Hospital at the age of 29 years.

He was predeceased by his grandfather Harvey Ross.

Shaun will be fondly remembered by parents Aaron Stelkia & Cathy Stelkia; sister Bonnie & Sage; extended family including Brad Friesen, Mason Friesen, grandparents Bonnie & Don Friesen, Debbie & Monty Liang, Sabrina Liang & Kegan, Scott & Ida Liang, Cheri Doricich & Jim, Larry & Silvia Friesen, Nathan Friesen, Cory Friesen, grandmother Jane Stelkia, Robert Stelkia, Silvia Stelkia, Jessica Stelkia, Jaclyn Stelkia, Marie Stelkia, Jamin Feist, Jarrah Feist, Dora Stelkia, Rodney James, Dustin James, Bryton James, Brianna Stelkia-James.

Shaun was born and raised in Oliver. He worked at the family ranch and at Indian Grove Riding Stables and in carpentry. He received numerous awards playing hockey, school and boxing. Shaun was a horseman, enjoyed spiritual drumming, native sweats, health and fitness. Shaun said he would help people, so he gave the greatest gift of life so he gave his healthy organs because of his clean lifestyle for the last two years. He volunteered in fundraising for cancer, drug and alcohol awareness and counselling.

Special thanks to: Chris and Sara who were first on the scene; starting C.P.R. all of the First Responders working so hard, to all who gave well wishes, food, cards, flowers, prayers and condolences. All those who supported Shaun in the hospital and continue to support the family and each other.

Shaun said “people will pray” and that they did for many days.

A wake will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday May 14, 2014 at the SenPokChin School Gym. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 15, 2014 at the SenPokChin School Gym. Burial at Stelkia Ranch, 2738 McKinney Rd,
