For many many, many years commencement ceremonies for grads at SOSS have been held at the Oliver Community Centre – hall and arena.

Now that the new school is fully operational and because the grad class is much smaller a change is being implemented.

There are 88 grads in 2014.

Vice Principal Tracey Harrington says it will come as no shock to students and parents that this move is being made. They were told last fall.

Harrington says the recent grand opening proved that the school has the size and dimension for large events. So the atrium and gym will be used for a banquet and awards ceremonies. The outdoor inner court yard will be utilized as well. The gymnasium can seat about 800 people with floor and bleachers in full use.

It will be a change.
