Brin White, Manager – South Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Program
Annual Report presented today to the Regional Board – Okanagan Similkameen.
White says a trust fund could be set up similar to those in other areas of BC where taxpayers pay an annual fee of 5 to 20 $ per parcel that helps fund regional conservation work in our area in perpetuity. A service area would be defined and voter assent would be needed. RDOS staff will bring back a report to the board on this “ask”.
From the report: “Biodiversity strategy is an incredible resource for guiding us into the future as we steward and care for the unique and important ecological treasures of our region”.
More champions are needed says White. www.soscp.org
