20 year old Stephan Daoust was charged with counts of breaching his probation for incidents concerning alcohol use December 27th 2013 and December 30th of last year according to court records.
Daoust appeared today, plead guilty and was sentenced.
RCMP had laid the charges during a period when Daoust was serving weekend time for another offence in the community of Oliver. Because of the two new charges being laid earlier this year Daoust served all of what was remaining of a 90 days sentence.
Daoust through his lawyer wrote letters apologizing to the police and the presiding judge for what he called his irresponsible behavior.
Judge Gregory Koturbash – placed Daoust on probation for one year saying that the accused seems to have a grasp of his problem with alcohol and is doing something about it.
Defense Lawyer Kathryn Lundiman indicated that the Daoust has a job and is receiving counselling and could not find an alcohol treatment plan at Interior Health.
Crown Counsel Vernon Frolich in outlining all the circumstances requested that the accused serve seven more days of jail time.
Previously:
