Two members of the MacNaughton family put in the final screw on a plaque to honour their parents Carleton and “Buddie”:
Isabel Maud Christie Frederick Carleton MacNaughton
“High above the valley when winds are blowing free
They blow all wild and sweetly through an old pine tree
What does it hear of them and what does it see
With the blown sage around it and wind blowing free?
Lakes blue and mountains blue and all the world below
We had meant to listen there many years ago
Wind torn and rain wet and all the world away
I shall return to listen there some day
I shall return to listen there some day” Isabel (Buddie) MacNaughton
The plaque acknowledges the contributions the MacNaughton family in preserving local history and the sharing of their knowledge and love of local flora and fauna.
The Fairview Kiosk site is the former location of the Fairview Presbyterian Church. It was constructed in 1899 and moved to Okanagan Falls in 1929. Carleton and Buddie were instrumental in having the Historical Society acquire this property at Fairview from the Trustees of the Kamloops-Okanagan Presbytery of the United Church of Canada in 1970. This was a special place for them and they devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy to improving and enjoying it.
