This death has been deemed suspicious pending the results of an autopsy to be performed early next week,” said RCMP Constable Kris Clark.
The RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit is supervising the investigation.
A man from Alberta has been identified as the drowning victim yesterday in Okanagan River south of OK Falls.
No name has been released.
The body was noticed early on Friday morning and SAR rescue personnel from Oliver and Penticton called in to recover the victim after 10 o’clock.
The 24 year male was found in the river 2 kilometres south of the Lake Skaha out-flow dam. There are several drop structures between the dam and the location where the recovery took place. Green Lake Road can be seen in the picture above.
One RCMP officer states the death is suspicious and may be linked to another un-related incident in the Oliver area.
When asked about this possible connection Clark said:
“Regarding your questions, specific details about any investigation only become known when that investigation results in charges being laid by Crown Counsel. This is done not only to protect the integrity of our investigations but also to protect all citizens that may be subject to a police investigation where no charges are laid. I am therefore not able to confirm or deny any specifics about this or any other investigation at this time.”
