On April 24th, 2014, at approximately 3:56PM, while conducting patrols on Bank Avenue. and Main St., in Oliver, members of the Oliver RCMP and South Okanagan Traffic Services conducted a traffic stop with a grey 1993 GMC Pick-up bearing an unattached British Columbia licence plate.
Upon speaking with the vehicle’s driver, who was also determined to be a prohibited driver under the Motor Vehicle Act, signs of alcohol impairment were evident leading the members to make a breath demand and conduct a roadside breath test.
As a result of the stop, the 62 year old male Oliver resident was charged with “Driving While Prohibited” under the Motor Vehicle Act, issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, served a violation ticket for “No Insurance”, and the vehicle was impounded.
Inquiries with regard to a robbery at a nearby Jewelry Store and Pawn Shop have not resulted in any significant detail being transmitted.
