To address recent thefts and break ins, the Osoyoos RCMP and Plainclothes Regional GIS Officers conducted an enhanced enforcement operation in Osoyoos On April 16th and 17th.
A number of vehicles and people were checked by Police and the operation resulted in the following two arrests:
On April 17th, at approximately 1:47 am, a grey 2008 Chevrolet Impala was observed by Police to drive in an unusual manner. A traffic stop occurred on Main St / 87th St and the owner was found to be in possession of a cell phone contrary to court conditions. A subsequent search located drugs on the owner. The owner was arrested and the vehicle was searched incidental to the arrest and 180 grams of marihuana was seized from a safe in the trunk of the car. The 19 year old man from Kelowna faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and breach of a recognizance.
On April 17th, at approximately 4:23 am, a red 1993 Honda Civic was stopped by Police on Highway 3 near Meadowlark Dr. The driver did not have a license on him and he provided several false names to the Police Officer. The man was arrested for Obstructing a Police Officer and was identified as being a prohibited driver. A search of the vehicle located brass knuckles and a small quantity of what is suspected to be suspected crystal meth. The 41 year old man from Grand Forks faces charges for driving while prohibited and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
On April 18th, it was reported to Police that overnight a red 2008 Honda ATV was stolen from a house on the 9300 block of 100th ave, Osoyoos. If anyone has information on the location of this stolen ATV please contact the Osoyoos RCMP at (250) 495-7236.
On April 18th, Police responded to a collision at Bobcat Court and Hwy 3 Osoyoos.A semi-truck and trailer were travelling too fast and rolled onto its side. A car was damaged as it hit debris from the damaged trailer. The truck driver suffered minor scratches to his hip and the driver and passenger in the car were unhurt. The 41 year old male driver from Surrey was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for Driving Without Due Care and Attention
On April 19th, Osoyoos RCMP arrested a 38 year old man on an outstanding Immigration Arrest Warrant. The man was turned over to Canada Border Services Agency Immigration officials. The male reportedly has an active Interpol Warrant out of Hungary.
