2014 UBC’s Faculty of Applied Science McEwen Family Teacher Recognition Award
We would like to offer our congratulations to Mr. Peter Gajda of Osoyoos Secondary School for being the recipient of this year’s award. His nomination was coordinated by a former student who is currently an engineering student at UBC and who also obtained additional letters of support from other former students of Mr. Gajda’s.
The McEwen Family Teacher Recognition Award was established to highlight the contributions high school teachers make to students and communities through their mentorship. The award celebrates those who go above and beyond teaching the curriculum to ensure their students succeed not just academically but personally. As the winning teacher, Mr. Gajda will receive $5,000 to spend on school enrichment activities, programs or development. He will also be asked to nominate a current high school student to receive a $5,000 scholarship to enroll in Engineering at UBC.
Congratulations again to Mr. Peter Gajda on being a well-deserved recipient of this award.
