The 4th Annual Lose it for Life Fitness challenge wrapped up on Friday, April 4th at the Oliver Community Centre Hall. The Finale was an opportunity for participants to get together, discuss results, successes and struggles and overall feedback of the program.
Throughout the 12 weeks, Teresa Maurer, (Certified Biggest Loser Trainer), took weekly measurements for each participant registered in the program. The main focus was on body fat %, waist measurements and body weight.

All the results were recorded and differences from the baseline numbers calculated so that participants could see how far they had come in just 12 shorts weeks. The results were quite impressive. We had 30 of 37 finalists weigh in on week 12 and we tipped the scale at 415 lb. total weight loss!
The participants were split into 3 teams (red, blue and white).
We had an overall winner who lost 29.3 lbs./14.85% weight loss, and an astounding 7.7 % loss in Body Fat! This individual had a really positive attitude and shred a total of 23.75 inches!
Top winner of the Red Group lost 25.7 lbs. / 13.83 % weight loss, this person followed a simple walk your weight off regime losing 2.9 % body fat and 21.25 inches!
Top winner of the White Group lost 28.6 lbs.! This individual was at the gym diligently after work, their efforts paid off with a 4.5% loss of body fat and 23 inches vanished! This person even said they got to have their wine on weekends – she never felt deprived and learned how to eat properly! We had another huge success with the white group, this individual started off slow and struggled with food choices and exercise consistency –with the right coaching we are happy to say 30.75 inches GONE! Almost a total of 30 lbs. lost and 4.6% less body fat. This individual has really moved in a healthy heart direction, and we anticipate major lifestyle changes still yet to come!
Top winner of the Blue Group: This person was one of our seniors in the group and they participated in every class, came to the gym – found a walking partner and had 8.9% weight loss, losing 3.6% body fat and 17.25 inches.

Registering for the 4th Annual Lose it 4 Life program gave participants a 3 month weight room pass, nutritional plan, 10 punch flex pass, wellness seminars and a professional Biggest Loser certified trainer.
Over the past 12 weeks participants have attended information sessions with Teresa Maurer to assist with nutrition choices, burning more calories, grocery store tour, goal setting and a one on one personal training session. Participants were to take part in fitness challenges such as a Walk/Run 3K, Pickleball and various Yoga and Fitness classes.
All participants received a certificate of completion. There were a variety of prizes generously donated to the success of this program – special thanks to Walnut Beach Resort, Oliver Pharmasave, Beyond Bliss, Oliver Subway, Buy Low, Nu Beginnings, Innervisions, Canadian Tire and Oliver Parks and Recreation Society.
Congratulations to the entire Oliver lose it For Life participants on their successes and we encourage all of you to keep on the right track to continued weight loss and improved health in 2014!
