Twelve people were evacuated from a chairlift at Apex Mountain Resort around noon today as a result of a fire at the top of the Triple Chair. It will be closed for the rest of the season.

There were no injuries and everyone skied the rest of the day.

According to reports, the fire broke out in the chairlift’s motor at the top of the ski lift shortly at about 12:15pm.

The lift was shut down and a dozen stranded skiers had to be lifted off the chairlift by an emergency response team.
