Delegations:
1st Oliver Cubs and Beavers
use of Skagit Avenue for Junkbox Derby Saturday April 26th – permission granted
Oliver/Osoyoos Search and Rescue – Grant in Aid request for $11,185 – received and will be responded too in the near future. OOSAR has/will have spent about $5500 on building permits and Development Cost Charges (DCC) for their new HQ on Cessna Street and help is needed in getting required underground electrical services to the building.
Other Business:
Protea Properties 6613 Park Drive (Green Acres) – new part of mobile home park – variance permit granted providing 5 new homes
Bylaw 1330 – Subdivision and Development Servicing bylaw adopted
Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw approved – total expenditure of $9.8 million with tax increase of $12 on the average home.
Old Pool Building – lease to Oliver Parks and Recreation Society – granted
Frank Venables Theatre Funding – no agreement on a counter petition type process with council asking for a referendum. Council did give approval for an upper limit of tax payer funding of ten cents per $1000 of assessed value of property.
Pound Keeper – staff to investigate further on options following word that present pound keeper will not continue after October 1st of this year.
Okanagan Regional Library – space requirements – proposed cut back of space – council decided to allow the current ORL lease renewal process to continue. It had been proposed that a letter be written to Library management indicating a desire to have consultation. Council decided that that was not needed.
Council will invite a representative of the Osoyoos to Kelowna airport shuttle initiative to make a presentation in the near future.
Council will write the Okanagan Valley Youth Orchestra congratulating them on their 25th anniversary and invite them to check out the new Frank Venables Theatre in the near future.
