The Kiwanis Club of Oliver does more than support the local community. For a number of years they have supported the SIGN FCI (Surgical Implant Generation Network – Fracture Care International). This organization provides support to Third World Countries who do not have the medical facilities we take for granted here in Canada and the US, hospital facilities that include sterile operation rooms with all the electronic features such at x-rays. SIGN FCI trains doctors in those countries to use the manufactured SIGN FCI nails.
The Kiwanis Club has donated funds to support a SIGN ward in the Khoja Abdullah Ansar Hospital in Herat, Afghanistan. On March 22, 2014 the members of the Club travelled to Richland, WA to present the remainder of the donation to also supply the hospital with a pediatric nail kit.
