Gayle Cornish is going to be the guest speaker at the annual general meeting of the Oliver-Osoyoos Historical Society on Sunday, March 30 at 2 pm. It will be held in the lower level of St. Christopher’s Anglican Church in Osoyoos.
The title of her presentation is ‘Full Circle: Art of the Inkameep Day School.’ The story associated with this internationally recognized art collection, that dates back to the 1930′s, is an interesting one. One surprising twist is that many of the pieces were stored for safekeeping, by some interested families in the Oliver and Osoyoos area, for an extended period of time.
The Osoyoos Museum and Archives Society now has a large collection of pieces belonging to this collection. Cornish did a lot of research into this topic when she was employed as a curator there. Remember, guests are welcome to come to our meetings for the presentation, and leave during the break before the business portion of the meeting begins.
