Regional Area C Director Allan Patton said he met with Gene Covert of Covert Farms Tuesday and received a definitive answer – no water will be supplied in 2014 – and that alternative measures must be taken.
Last week ODN revealed that the Loose Bay Society had received a communication that stated water would no long be available and all concerned had wanted a one year extension to allow for proper planning of a new system.
Patton said Covert had indicated that his insurance provider was concerned about the supply of water off the property.
The Regional District Director said plans are in the works for tanks to store water and for a supply to be trucked to the top of Secrest Hill in time for an April/May opening.
A long term plan of a guaranteed supply of pumped water is in the works, he said.
The latter option preferred by Interior Health.
