Court records indicated that Ronald Arthur Teneycke, 52 – appeared in provincial court at Penticton yesterday on new charges.
MVA section 73 (failing to stop and state name) and Criminal Code of Canada charge 249.1 were laid by the crown as informations.
249.1 Every one commits an offence who, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by a peace officer operating a motor vehicle, fails, without reasonable excuse and in order to evade the peace officer, to stop the vehicle as soon as is reasonable in the circumstances.
He also appeared on a previous information for 733.1
An offender who is bound by a probation order and who, without reasonable excuse, fails or refuses to comply with that order is guilty of (a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment
Teneycke had been free after serving all time given to him by the courts but released with conditions.
One of the provisions is to stop his vehicle when requested by a police officer.
RCMP are quoted as saying that in the “early morning hours of Thursday, Teneycke was arrested by a member on a rural road outside of Okanagan Falls. He was arrested for failing to abide by a probation order ~ failing to stop for police.”
He appeared in court the same day and will see a judge on Monday – he will remain in custody.
