Power went out for about 15 minutes at 10 o’clock today.
Fortis BC says power has now been restored to all areas of the Okanagan, with the exception of Keremeos.
Spokesperson Grace Pickell says they are still investigating the exact cause, but at this time are calling it a ‘transmission line related event.’
The outage also affected Kelowna, Penticton and the South Okanagan and lasted around 30 minutes before crews were able to get those areas back online.
“A brief update : an electrical outage was reported in the northern end of Penticton. On Thursday morning, the feed to the Westminster Substation went down, causing the north end of Penticton – including the downtown core – to lose power. The outage was regional in nature and outside of the City system. Power has now been restored.
Alongside power provision partners like FortisBC, the City Electric Utility continues to work on the reason behind the power outage.”
