Over 60 youth baseball players representing communities throughout B.C. will be competing in the Dominican Republic Latin American Baseball Classic this coming August. This is the first time Canada has been invited to participate in this thirty two year old world class international youth event.
Ten nations have been invited to participate. The Latin American Baseball Classic will be held August 6-12, 2014 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This will be the first time a Canadian team has been invited to participate in the tournament.
Giving is a big part of the humanitarian and cultural aspects of the tournament. A fundraising campaign has been launched to assist in player travel costs and to bring baseball equipment, educational supplies and trinkets to Dominican youth who desperately need such items.The Wave Academy will run one final Open Spring Developmental Clinic and LABC Team Canada evaluations April 5th, Carmi Field.
Jim Parque, former Chicago White Sox pitcher and LABC Team USA Director will once again guest coach.
LABC Team Canada invites not participating in regular league schedules will hold their first team orientation.
The Skills Developmental Clinic is open to ages 10 – 18 and all levels of experience.
Those unable to attend the April 5th LABC evaluations can contact us for alternate arrangements.
Final rosters and alternates will be announced early May.
