Al Tenborg, skip of the SuperValu Corporate curling team this past season, proudly holds his customized trophy presented to him by fellow staff at his ‘retirement’ party. This was the first curling trophy Al had ever won.
Corporate League curling winners for the second straight year – the Parks and Rec team! Mark Silbernagel, Sheila Lange, Norm Card (skip) and Carol Sheridan. Al Tenborg, coordinator of the Corporate League, is in the rear. The Parks and Rec team placed second in the regular league, behind SuperValu, and was behind by two points coming into the final end of the playoff game. Skip Norm Card gathered his crew at the hog line prior to the last end and got them re-focussed on the importance to the world order of them concentrating on each and every shot. There was more than just glory on the line here – history, bragging rights, continuity of corporate curling dominance – and of course, their winners photo on the internet for all the world to see. Whatever he said, it worked. SuperValu had rocks on the button, ready to cheer, but skipper Norm came through with a painfully slow, painfully close to the guard, delightfully precise shot that not only cleared the button of SuperValu rocks, but left Parks and Rec lying three, and winners once again!
Congratulations Parks and Rec!
