On February 24, 2014 at ~ 08:10 Hours the Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision in the 8000 block of Highway 97. The 72 year old Oliver resident, operating a white GMC pickup had driven off road left striking a section of fence and a rock. The driver and passenger represented that a cube van merging onto the highway from Tucelnuit Drive cut them off causing the driver to take evasive action which in turn resulted in the pickup going into a spin and striking a fence. The road was particularly slippery at the time of the collision. Neither driver nor passenger were injured.
On February 24, 2014 at ~ 16:42 Hours the Oliver RCMP responded to a report a blue Jeep had struck a power pole in the vicinity of Road 4 and Highway 97. Investigation represented that the driver of the Jeep had braked for a vehicle that stopped suddenly in front of her causing a loss of control and the vehicle veering off the road striking a power pole then a road sign. Road conditions were icy at the time of the accident and, the vehicle was not equipped with winter tire. No injuries were sustained as a result of this crash.
On March 01, 2014 at ~ 03:09 Hours the Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover in the 1400 block of Fairview Road. The young male driver of a 2007 Toyota Yaris appeared to have lost control of his vehicle while travelling east on Fairview Road. The vehicle which appeared to have gone off road right, rolled several times down a large embankment coming to rest on it’s tires. Speed, surface gravel and driver inexperience were all considerations in this crash. Neither the driver nor his two young passengers received serious injuries as a result of this crash.
On March 03, 2014 the Oliver RCMP and Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 4000 Block of N’Kmip Road, Oliver. The residence was vacant at the time of the fire and is being investigated as suspicious. Any witnesses or information should be directed to the Oliver Detachment, Police File # 2104 2014-759 refers.
