Osoyoos RCMP – Spirit Ridge Resort ATM Robbery
On February 21, 2014 at 4:00am the Osoyoos RCMP received a call of a robbery at the Spirit Ridge Resort in Osoyoos. Two suspects entered the front lobby that was occupied by the front desk security guard. The first suspect entered and immediately sprayed the employee with bear spray. The second suspect followed behind and was carrying a red dollie. With the guard incapacitated from the bear spray, the suspects quickly made their way past the front desk and towards the ATM machine removing the ATM machine out the back door.
The Osoyoos RCMP have seized video surveillance of the robbery. Both suspects are observed wearing dark clothing including hoodies and facial covering.
The Osoyoos RCMP received a later call of the ATM being found on Mt. Baldy Road. The ATM had been pried open and all of the money had been stolen.
The Osoyoos RCMP are releasing still images from the video surveillance which shows both suspects entering the lobby area.
The Town of Osoyoos and the Spirit Ridge Resort are both safe and family friendly locations. Violent robberies and the theft of ATM machines are not a common occurrence in this area which makes us believe the suspects targeted this ATM machine and had knowledge of the surrounding area.
The Osoyoos RCMP are working tirelessly to identify those responsible for this robbery and are following up on every possible lead. Should anyone recognize the suspects from the images provided or if they have information that may lead the police to their apprehension they can contact the Osoyoos RCMP at (250)495-7236 and quote File 2014-643 or to remain anonymous please call Crime Stoppers.
