SOSS Hornets are the 2014 South Central zone champions after beating long time rival Princess Margaret 72 to 53 Thursday in Oliver.

Large crowd at the high school gym with a highly competitive game to watch with Hornets  in control most of the game with a 10 to 20 point lead.

The Hornets have won the zone championship 5 of the last six years and over that span they have captured 3 valley championships and 2 provincial banners, the Hornets are looking to recapture the title they lost last year to Kelowna Christian.

On Sunday at noon the Hornets will play Pen Hi in the 51st annual shoe game. The shoe game was started in 1963 and has been a fixture between the two schools ever since. To date the record is Pen Hi Lakers with 29 wins and SOSS Hornets with 21.

Over the past 9 years the Hornets have won the shoe 8 times, having won it 7 straight years in a row.
