On Feb. 8 the Junior curlers from the Oliver Curling Club hosted their annual Kiwanis Junior Bonspiel. There were 56 curlers competing in the one day event representing Oliver, Osoyoos, Penticton and Summerland. The 14 teams were divided into 2 categories, 2 senior teams and 12 junior teams. The Oliver team skipped by Greg Ramsey with team mates Mikayla Beckett and Paige Riley won the senior division. The Edwards rink, also from Oliver,skipped by Zack Edwards and his team mates Rex Baptiste-Lock, Joel Desjardins and Jonah Cook took second in this division. A team from Osoyoos placed first in the junior division. This team was skipped by Sarah Launier with Kelsey Bayda, Megan Bayda, and Kyleigh Turnbull rounding out the winning team. Second place went to the team from Summerland skipped by Kaeden Seiter with fellow team mates Reilly Noble, Jacob Martin, and Hayley Kruger helping out. Third place was a tie between 2 Oliver teams. Madison Boen-Shekula skipped the team with MacKenzie Kruger, Emily Muller, and Zoe Crowley completing the team. The other Oliver team was skipped by Tyler Antunes with Sam Bailey, Carter Czabany, and Joseph Trudel rounding out this team. Lots of curling, food, prizes and a magic show made for a fun filled day for the kids. Medallions were presented to the winning teams by Mr. Ken Yoxall president of the Oliver Kiwanis club. The Junior curlers would like to thank all the volunteers who generously donated their time to make this event a success.
