Last week’s column generated some interest. I was surprised at just how concerned everyone felt about climate change.
One of my faithful readers identified an error in the article, which was the statement I made about the earth’s axis tilting 2 degrees. I went online to see if I was incorrect. I found a web site, produced by Professor Steven Dutch who teaches Natural and Applied Sciences at the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay, entitled Changing the Earth’s Axis or Orbit. This site is very informative and showed me that I had indeed erred. The article said that the earth’s internal processes do produce measurable variations in the earth’s rotation but these same processes are far too feeble to affect the rotation significantly. I extend my apologies to my readership for not doing my homework which I hope did not mis-lead any of you, and I thank the reader for identifying the oversight.
