On February 7th, 2014 at approximately 11:45 am, the Osoyoos RCMP responded to 5 car Motor Vehicle accident on Main St / 87th St, Osoyoos. A Dodge Dakota rear-ended a Buick Century car that had backed out onto Main St. The vehicle then continued East on Main St and struck 3 other diagonally parked / unoccupied vehicles. BC Ambulance attended and there were some minor health concerns form the accident. This matter is still under investigation by the Police.
On February 9th, 2014, The Osoyoos RCMP received a report of another scam making the rounds in Osoyoos. Some claiming to be from CRA – Canada Revenue Agency has been calling telling people they owe CRA money and if they don’t pay $750 right away they would be arrested the following day. Be sure to confirm all information before sending money or paying bills which could be fraudulent.
On February 10th , it was reported to the Osoyoos RCMP that there were fraudulent ads on Kijiji advertising rental properties in Osoyoos and Oliver. The add asks prospective renters to call a phone number where a subject states they are in Ohio due to a sick family member and if the renters send them deposit money they will send the keys for the rental properties to the new renters. This is a scam and not true.
After experiencing a rash of thefts from mailboxes in Osoyoos and the South Okanagan area, Michael MINCHAU of Keremeos has been charged criminally for Mischief, Theft of Mail, and Possession of Stolen Property related to the mailbox theft on Meadowlark Drive in Osoyoos.
