Just how cold is it?

in Osoyoos where the mercury dropped to minus 19.3 C Ð more than four degrees below the previous record of minus 15 C established in 1989.

in Penticton temperature dropped to minus 18.4 C  breaking the previous record of minus 17.8 C set on Feb. 6, 1929.

The Arctic air mass is expected to hover over much of B.C. through most of the Family Day long weekend, with a chance of snow flurries today and Saturday. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to about minus 13 C tonight, followed by a gradual warming trend through to Monday when the high temperature is expected to reach minus 3 C. Normal temperatures for this time of year in the South Okanagan are highs of 2 C and lows of minus 4 C.
